SAHIH AL-BUKHARI (THE BOOK OF KNOWLEDGE)

-- Narrated Anas Ibn Masud (Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to take care of us in preaching by selecting a suitable time, so that we might not get bored. (He abstained from pestering us with sermons and knowledge all the time).
(Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol 1).
(Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan et.al.).

-- The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Whomsoever Allah intends to do good, He gives right understanding of religion, and knowledge is maintained only through teaching."
(Bukhari).
(A Manual of Hadith by. Maulana Muhammad Ali).

-- Abu Huraira said, The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The word of wisdom is the lost property of the believer, so wherever he finds it he has a better right to it."
(Tirmidhi).
(A Manual of Hadith by. Maulana Muhammad Ali).

-- Narrated Abdullah bin Masud (Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Do not wish to be like anyone except in two cases. (1) (The first is) A person, whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it righteously; (2) (the second is) the one whom Allah has given wisdom (the Holy Quran) and he acts according to it and teaches it to others."
(Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol 1).
(Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan et.al.).

-- Narrated Abu Wail (Allah be pleased with him): Abdullah used to give religious talk to the people on every Thursday. Once a man said, "O Aba Abdur-Rahman! (By Allah) I wish if you could preach us daily." He replied, "The only thing which prevents me from doing so, is that I hate to bore you, and no doubt I take care of you in preaching by selecting a suitable time just as the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to do with us, for fearing of making us bored."
(Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol 1).
(Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan et.al.).

-- Narrated Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "(Religious) knowledge will be taken away (by the death of religious scholars) ignorance (in religion) and afflictions will appear; and Harj will increase." -- Narrated Anas (Allah be pleased with him): Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) said: "From among the potents of the Hour are (the following):
1.      Religious knowledge will be taken away (by the death of religious learned men).
2.      (Religious) ignorance will prevail.
3.      Drinking of Alcoholic drinks (will be very common).
4.      There will be prevalence of open illegal sexual intercourse.
(Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol 1).
(Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan et.al.).

-- Narrated Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) There is none among the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) who has narrated more Hadiths than I except, Abdullah bin Amr (bin Al-As) who used to write them and I never did the same.
(Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol 1).
(Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan et.al.).

-- Narrated Anas (Allah be pleased with him): Whenever the Prophet (peace be upon him) spoke a sentence (said something), he used to repeat it thrice so that the people could understand it properly from him and whenever he asked permission to enter, (he knocked the door) thrice with greeting.
(Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol 1).
(Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan et.al.).

-- Narrated Abu Musa (Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "The example of guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me is like abundant rain falling on the earth, some of which was fertile soil that absorbed rain water and brought forth vegetation and grass in abundance. (And) another portion of it was hard and held the rain water and Allah benefited the people with it and they utilized it for drinking, making their animals drink from it and for irrigation of the land for cultivation. (And) a portion of it was barren which could neither hold the water nor bring forth vegetation (then the land did not give any benefits). The first is the example of the person who comprehends Allah's religion and gets benefit (from the knowledge) which Allah has revealed through me (the Prophet) and learns and then teaches others. The last example is that of person who does not care for it and does not take Allah's guidance revealed through me (He is like the barren land)."

2.      (Religious) ignorance will prevail.
3.      There will be prevalence of open illegal sexual intercourse.
4.      Women will increase in number and men will decrease in number so much that fifty women will be looked after by one man.
(Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol 1).
(Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan et.al.).

-- Narrated Anas (Allah be pleased with him): The fact which stops me from narrating a great number of Hadiths to you is that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever tells a lie against me intentionally, then (surely) let him occupy his seat in Hell-fire.
(Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol 1).
(Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan et.al.).

-- Narrated Salama (Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Prophet (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon) him) saying, "Whoever (intentionally) ascribes to me what I have not said then (surely) let him occupy his seat in Hell-fire.

(Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan et.al.).

Allah's Apostle (may the blessings and peace of Allah be) upon him) said: O Abu Huraira! "I have thought that none will ask me about it before you as I know your longing for the (learning of) Hadiths. The luckiest person who will have my intercession on the Day of Resurrection will be the one who said sincerely from the bottom of his heart "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah."
(Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol 1).
(Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan et.al.).

-- Umar bin Abdul Aziz wrote to Abu Bakr bin Hazm, "look for the knowledge of Hadith and get it written, as I am afraid that religious knowledge will vanish and the religious learned men will pass away (die). Do not accept anything save the Hadiths of the Prophet may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). Circulate knowledge and teach the ignorant, for knowledge does not vanish except when it is kept secretly (to oneself).

(Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan et.al.).

-- Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The fornication of the eyes is to look with lust; the fornication of the tongue is to speak lustful things; the fornication of the hands is to touch with lust; the fornication of the feet is to walk towards lust; the fornication of the heart is to desire evil;..."

-- Narrated Abdullah bin Amr bin Al As (Allah be pleased with him): I heard Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) saying: "Allah does not take away the knowledge by taking it away from (the hearts of) the people, but takes it away by the death of the religious learned men till when none of the (religious learned men) remains, people will take as their leaders ignorant persons who when consulted will give their verdict without knowledge. So they will go astray and will lead people astray."
(Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol 1).
(Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan et.al.).

-- Abu Huraira said, The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "People are like mines of silver and gold; the more excellent of them in the days of Ignorance are the more excellent of them in Islam when they attain knowledge (NOTE 30)

-- Narrated Abdullah (Allah be pleased with him): While I was going with the Prophet (peace be upon him) through the ruins of Medina and he was reclining on a date-palm leaf stalk, some Jews passed by. Some of them said to the others; Ask him ( the Prophet (peace be upon him)) about the spirit. Some of them said that they should not ask him that question as he might give a reply which would displease them. But some of them insisted on asking, and so on of them stood up and asked, "O Aba-l-Qasim! What is the spirit?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) remained quiet. I thought he was being inspired Divinely. So I stayed till that state of the Prophet (while being inspired) was over. The Prophet (peace be upon him) then said, "And they ask you (O Muhammad (peace be upon him) ) concerning the spirit - Say: The spirit - its knowledge is with my Lord. And of knowledge you have been given but little." (17:85).
(Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol 1).
